Here's Bill running the bob cat ....they picked it up in Devils Lake on the way up and after a quick meeting with Tim Johnson, Northern Plains Electric Co-op (who was good enough to come out that first Saturday morning and go over some electrical matters before we started) Bill started trenching a ditch to bury the cable back to the lodge.

Larry didn't wait for anything...he got busy framing in for the front windows and had them installed in no time...the added natural light was something we really appreciated.
We seriously did not expect this... the first day anyhow...power to lodge was celebrated with Larry's lighting up the first "LIGHT OF THE LODGE"...it was so good to not have to hear the generators running anymore and we quickly took advantage of every plug in and switch.
Dan, took on the 2 biggest challenges head on...the building of the curved walls in the first bin and with Larry's assistance...the windows in the same.

No more would a wall be built the wiring was put in place...the top and bottom plates of the round walls were cut from 3/4 plywood with a circular saw...I was amazed to see that this was even possible but hey...Dan's been working construction for a few years now and although I was hesitant to give it a try...after a short stint with my sabre saw I was quickly convinced that this is "the only way" now!.
A few of the things that were first on the list of "THINGS TO DO" ....installing the wood stove for heat, setting up the kitchen for cooking and assembling the bunk beds for sleeping...all of these tasks were completed and we were able to settle in for the evening. We were all ready for a little of that right Larry?
Wall studs, Plates and Ceiling Joists...Electric lights and a fire in the Stove and supper is smelling good...it was an amazing first day...so much accomplished and I can't even begin to tell you how good it felt to crawl in bed that night.
Bill looks as if he could use a beer about now...wait a minute...I think that maybe he had already had a few when this picture was taken...oh well...he earned it...he had left Friday afternoon with Dan and Larry....driven about 1,000 miles, hit a deer, loaded up a Bob Cat in Devils Lake, gets to the farm and immediately gets busy with the trenching...doesn't stop until Dan stops (No one was going to stop until Dan stopped) and like all of us at this point...he was in need of some R and R....
Dan...well...I think he was agreeable with this idea also.
We...got no argument from my sister Kathy on this subject either
Larry...found himself a good seat beside the stove as well and it wasn't until Susie had fed us all and cleaned up the dishes that we kicked them all out of the living room so we could make our beds and settle in for the night.
