Here's a couple pictures of the living room...the one on top here is of the ceiling and the one on the left here is looking into the kitchen from the living room.

Above you can see better what was accomplished this trip...of course we just can't seem to get the "RED" right but we will keep trying just the same...I feel pretty good that we have everything pretty well sealed up around the soffit and where the new roof connects to the lodge. We definitely will have to install a couple good sized windows on the North end of this addition.
The last Friday we were up there we (Susie, Vince , Ralp and me) took a trip over to the Hawk Museum...my Grandpa Mac took me over to see Dale Hawk and his collection of historical machinery and such back in 1969 before it was a museum...I remember being pretty impressed with what Dale had accumulated and fixed up and built from scratch back then but now it's even more impressive and it was great to get back there and see the place once again. To the left is a picture of Susie with a big ole bell from the Hawk Museum.

Here are some random shots of some of the things on display at the museum...I am pretty sure that the contraption upper left was something that Dale had invented and built...it looks like an early prop propelled snow machine of some sort...and the old car with tracks was for delivering the mail in the winters I think.
This brings us to the "PEOPLE" part of our program...the fellah to the left claims that he is from Cando...we found him at the Hawk Museum and he also claims to know my mom LaNita Bolton...I can not recall his name so if you recognize him send me an email with his name and I'll get that updated here some time.
We had some neighbors stop by and visit...this is Howard Soderberg and dang if I can remember his wife's name. They live just about straight West of the lodge maybe a 1/2 mile South then...He was the Sheriff in Towner County for I think he said 33 years...most all of the other sheriffs in Towner County previously had died in office so he must be a pretty tuff bird for sure
More neighbors from the West ...well actually they live in Fargo now but they own I think 3 quarters just West of the lodge also so technically they are our neighbors. Bill Steele standing behind his grandson Isaiah and his brother David.
John Nadeau...he comes driving by on a big ole road maintainer and stops by for a visit and he'll be a good neighbor to have if we ever need the road plowed...he lives near town just North and West of Cando.
Other visitors include: Delbert Lewallen who left for the sunny South just after we got up there...of course Butch and Sandy Anton from Moorehead, Mn (you saw them earlier). Babe Belzer came out with a friend who used to be the chef at the Durham House who has since moved to Alaska and danged if I can remember his name either however he had some pretty interesting stories to tell from way up North... Thanks for the cookies Babe. When my dad was first working up North for Delbert, I am guessing in the early 1950's or so, his best friend was a man by the name of Johnny Olson (who has since passed)...well Johnny had some children and I stopped in an introduced myself to one of them while in town one day..Jim Olson is his name and we had a good little visit and I hope to get to know him better as time goes by.
